About this e-book:

Small Farm Cultivation of Lavandula sp. began as a computer-based slide presentation for educational seminars about growing herbs and distilling pure essential oils in New England. Small Farm Cultivation of Lavandula sp. has evolved into a 50-slide PC-based How-To guide for new growers seeking the information they need to establish a small lavender farm, specifically written for Northeast US residents by CT lavender grower David Catherman.

This electronic document can also be used as a turnkey pc-based Slide Show for garden club meetings, farm festival seminars, and public self-instruction material for county agricultural extension offices.

About the Author:

Sleepy Bee Lavender Farm (South Glastonbury, CT) is in its 4th season as a perennial lavender installation in USDA Zone 6 near Hartford, CT. While searching for the tips and tools he needed to establish 200 lavender plants in his New England location, Mr. Catherman found lots of information about how to grow lavender in sunny, warm, and dry (low humidity) climates such as Sequim (Washington), California, Idaho, and Texas. He found very little information about cultivating lavender on a small farm scale in the Northeast part of the US, specifically in New England. After successfully establishing Sleepy Bee Lavender Farm in central Connecticut, the author is pleased to offer this guide to growing lavender as potentially the only such compendium of proven tips and techniques available on how to establish a perennial lavender installation in Southern New England and other parts of the Northeast in Zones 5 and 6.
